green0IceHotelQuebec City, December 9, 2014 – This year, the Hôtel de Glace is celebrating its 15th anniversary! From January 5 to March 22, the public is invited to rediscover this classic winter attraction, the only one of its kind in America. Every winter, dozens of artisans have redesigned and built this impressive hotel entirely from snow and ice, now one of Québec’s most popular tourist attractions.

Since 2001, over one million people have visited the Hôtel de Glace, in addition to the more than 49,000 guests who experienced a night under its snowy roof and the 150,000 who took part in events of all kinds. The Hôtel de Glace has become an international tourist destination.

“We’re 15 years young, and our entire team is thrilled to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Hôtel de Glace here in the World Capital of winter, Québec!” enthused Ice Hotel CEO Jacques Desbois.

What to do at the Hôtel de Glace
With its 44 rooms and thematic suites, its grand hall and scintillating ice chandelier, its chapel and Grand Slide, a tour of the Hôtel de Glace is always a fascinating experience. The outdoor slide and snowshoeing trails are open again this year, with equipment rentals right on site. Everything visitors need to make the most of winter!

In honour of its 15th anniversary, a new section will highlight the history of the Hôtel de Glace, including a timeline, souvenirs, snow sculptures and much more…

The popular Behind the Scenes tour is back for the 3rd year in a row. Visitors are invited to discover the secrets of how the ice hotel was built and stop off at the ice workshop, where they can make their very own ice glass.

The theme for 2015: Space-Time
The design of the Hôtel de Glace draws inspiration from space-time, a theme that takes visitors on a dazzling journey through successive areas, where past and future remain frozen in time: “With representations of the ancient past or of a possible future, the Hôtel de Glace invites visitors to explore facets of reality as they travel through time. Along the way, fascinating ‘time bubbles’ – from the Big Bang to space travel – are featured throughout the hotel,” added Pierre l’Heureux, the new artistic director of the Hôtel de Glace.
